ChatWit or Sphinx Agent? We Built Both, So Here's the Honest Answer
· 3 min · chatwit.us
It's a fair question: SnapIT has two products that put an AI receptionist on a small-business website, ChatWit and Sphinx Agent. Why both, and which one should you use?
Short version: they overlap in the middle and split at the edges. Both answer visitor questions from facts you type in, both capture leads and email them to you, both have a free plan with a snippet you paste into your site, and both have paid plans at $19 and $49. Where they differ is what else comes with them.
Pick ChatWit if you want a page, not just a widget
ChatWit gives you a free hosted page at yourname.chatwit.us. Your receptionist lives on that page, and the same page holds your links, link-in-bio style: 3 on Free, 10 on Pro, unlimited on Business. If you don't have a website, or your "website" is an Instagram bio, that page can be it. If you do have a site, the same receptionist drops in as a chat button.
It's deliberately simple. One receptionist per account, on every plan. You describe the business, add up to 20 questions and answers, test it, and share it. It always tells visitors it's an AI when they ask.
ChatWit also has free public chat rooms by topic and city, which is a different thing entirely. Paid plans add private rooms.
Pick Sphinx Agent if you need more than one agent, or the phone
Sphinx Agent is the configurable one. You can run several agents (1 on Free, 3 on Starter, 10 on Pro) and start each from one of ten agent types: sales, support, booking, lead capture, FAQ, real estate and so on. It answers in 29 languages, has browser voice chat on every plan, and lets Pro accounts choose a stronger model.
The biggest difference: Sphinx can answer your phone. Pro includes a real US number and 60 call minutes a month. ChatWit doesn't do phone or voice at all. I wrote up how the phone lines work and what they cost.

|---|---|---|
| Free plan | 50 conversations/mo | 100 replies/mo, 1 agent |
| $19/mo | Pro: 500 conversations, no badge | Starter: 1,500 replies, 3 agents |
| $49/mo | Business: 1,500 conversations | Pro: 4,000 replies, 10 agents, phone line |

| Hosted page + link-in-bio | Yes | Share link only |

One thing that trips people up: the units are different
ChatWit counts conversations. One conversation is a single visitor chat of up to 15 messages from the visitor. Sphinx counts replies: every answer the agent sends is one. So "500" on ChatWit and "1,500" on Sphinx aren't comparable numbers. If your visitors ask one or two quick questions, Sphinx's 1,500 replies go further. If they have long back-and-forths, ChatWit's 500 conversations stretch further for the same $19.
Neither one charges you extra when you hit the limit. ChatWit's receptionist asks visitors to contact you directly; Sphinx pauses the agent until the next month or an upgrade.
What neither does
Neither one reads your website on its own. You give them the facts. Neither offers human live chat or a shared inbox. If you need a person on the other end, you need a different tool.
So why build both?
Because they started from different places. ChatWit began as a chat-room site and added a receptionist later. Sphinx Agent started as an AI agent platform. Over time they met in the middle. I'm keeping both because the people who want a free page with their links and a friendly bot on it are not the same people who want ten agents and a phone number. If that changes, I'll say so here.
Try either one free: chatwit.us or sphinxagent.ai.
